Hacettepe Oncology Hospital’s outpatient unit was opened in November 1993, and an inpatient unit with 120-bed capacity started service in June 2005. Until 1993, the diagnosis, treatment and follow up of patients with cancer had been carried out at Hacettepe University’s Adult and Children’s Hospitals.

Hacettepe Oncology Hospital is structured as an oncology center which has medical oncology, radiation oncology, pediatric oncology, radiology, nuclear medicine, and basic oncology departments, bone marrow transplantation and apheresis units, and a biochemistry laboratory. The hospital provides services for 30,000 outpatients every year and chemotherapy for 1,500 patients at its daily treatment units every month. The latest treatment methods are applied at the Medical Oncology Department. Radiation Oncology Department, with its state-of-the-art equipment, provides treatment for patients who are usually outside referrals from throughout Turkey. Pediatric Oncology Department is a national pioneer. Advanced studies on molecular diagnostic methods are performed at the Basic Oncology Department’s laboratories. Hacettepe Oncology Hospital was accredited by the Joint Commission International in January 2011.
